Sunshine and Blue Skies

It's around 40 out but twice as warm as it has been here in Pennsylvania .... Just reminds me of Jimmy!

".... But there's booze in the blender,
And soon it will render
That frozen concoction that helps me hang on.

Wasted away again in Margaritaville
Searchin' for my lost shaker of salt ...."

Thank God the sun is out and it's above freezing!

Obama '08

As the run for the White House in 2008 gets started, REAL early I should add, you can always find good quotes .......

In a column posted by Dave Johnson and James Boyce on The Huffington Post titled "Barack Obama: Don't Be Our Neville Chamberlain":

"Senator Obama sincerely believes in his vision of a better country, a more hopeful and decent place. But as we checked through the reviews of his announcement, we were filled not with hope, but with concern. In today's political arena, hope and decency will get you slaughtered. The forces that will line up against the Democratic nominee in 2008 will not be playing a hopeful and decent game - it will be a battle to the death with a neo-conservative, corporatist, authoritarian movement that has spent billions of dollars seizing power over the last forty years. The $mear machine is already directing its guns at Senator Obama with nasty whisper campaigns, racial insinuations, etc. ....

You can have all the hope in the world, Senator Obama, but you better remember to at least bring a gun to a gun fight. "

Russian Military Expansion

I just finished reading a scary article about the Russian military and weapons sales. That is just what the world needs right now. Advanced weapons in the hands of nit wits like Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. Seems like old times .....

Post Super Bowl Sports Film Festival

So the NFL has crowned a champ and closed up shop for the year. So whats a guy to do before the big screen cools off and the beer gets warm? And don't tell me about the Pro Bowl. That doesn't count because it is not real football!

Time to break out the sports films and get ready for the long cold winter. So here is my list:

  • Slap Shot
  • Bull Durham
  • Tin Cup
  • Mystery, Alaska
  • The Replacements
  • North Dallas Forty

To that list I will add a couple of pseudo surfing movies. They aren't just about surfing but include plenty of nice beach and surfing scenes. Just the thing for a cold day.

  • Point Break
  • Blue Crush

So that's my list. Feel free to add to it. Than kick back, pop in a DVD, open a cold one and enjoy!

GoDaddy.com - Go Daddy Commercials

Honorable mention:
Budweiser: Beer Stealing Crabs
GM: Robot

Loser
Snickers: Kiss (maybe OK but the family didn't like it)

Oh and the game! Congratulations to Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts!

**Update**
This from The New York Times"
"And while the news was good for some Super Bowl advertisers like Anheuser Busch and Nationwide Financial, it was unusually bad for the Masterfoods division of Mars. Complaints about its Super Bowl commercial for Snickers candy — showing two men committing violence against themselves after they accidentally kiss — led the company to decide late yesterday that it would withdraw the spot.
Masterfoods, which received complaints from the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and the Human Rights Campaign that the commercial was homophobic, also took down related material on a special Web site. "
